Privacy policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
Scope
This policy describes how data is handled by the mailias browser extension, project website, and the default Worker that you deploy in your own Cloudflare account. The mailias maintainer does not operate a central service that manages users' aliases or email.
Data stored on your device
The extension stores configuration such as your mail domain and Worker URL, your secret key, and mappings between sites and aliases on your device.
When you open the popup, the extension uses the active tab's URL to determine the site's domain and show the corresponding alias. It does not store the full tab URL.
Your secret key is used locally to generate aliases and verify configuration. It is not sent to the Worker or the project maintainer.
Exported mapping files do not contain your secret key.
Communication with the Worker
The extension connects to the Worker you configure to check its availability and configuration. These requests may include your configured mail domain when needed. They do not include your secret key or the active tab URL.
As with ordinary network requests, Cloudflare may process your IP address and request metadata when these connections are made.
Email processing
You configure the secret key and forwarding address in your own Cloudflare environment. Cloudflare Email Routing and the Worker process incoming mail and forward messages sent to valid aliases to that address.
The extension itself does not read your inbox or email contents. The default Worker does not maintain a database of issued aliases. Logs and other data stored by Cloudflare are subject to your configuration and Cloudflare's policies.
Third-party services
The extension does not send data to the project maintainer for advertising, usage analytics, or tracking.
Cloudflare is used for the Worker and email routing, and forwarded mail is processed by the email provider you choose. Those services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Deleting your data
You can delete local settings, alias mappings, and your secret key by resetting mailias or removing the extension's data from your browser. Individual mappings can also be removed in settings.
Deleting data from the extension does not remove data stored by Cloudflare or your destination email provider. Manage that data through the relevant service according to its settings and policies.
Website
The project website does not use analytics or tracking. Its hosting provider may process IP addresses and request metadata when serving pages.
Contact
For privacy questions, contact the maintainer through the mailias issue tracker or by email.
